Finding Timely Help

I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve been in my own little bubble. Getting through each day, grateful to have my husband and devastated in the decline of his ability to understand the world around him.

The past few weeks have seen me cling to my schedule with an iron heart. Afraid to alter it, even slightly lest it disturb Jim’s tranquility.

I’ve gone through the Alzheimer’s website in the past and have decided to revisit it. They have sections of their website devoted to local webinars and resources. When scrolling through, I revisited their section for Dementia Caregivers.

The first time I went through this site, I was well-read so there wasn’t much ‘new’ information and a lot of “we’re not there yet” thoughts.

Those thoughts have changed. This time when I go through the caregiver’s stress checklist to determine my stress level, it’s doubled. Jim’s needs have changed since the last time I read this information to move us from “We’re not there yet” to “We’re almost there.” It’s a scary thought.

Even if you’ve already read through the resources on you Alzheimer’s or other related websites. Make sure you revisit them every few months. As your partner declines, different areas become more relevant.

A little timely advice goes a long way to making this journey easier for both you and your partner.
