… and now I’m repeating myself. At least I think I am. I’m sure we’ve talked about this before but the stress of the holidays seems to have woken the repetitive beast in my home. (I am not immune – ask my friends. I can’t stop repeating tales because I’m no longer used to people remembering what I’ve said. Luckily, my friends think it’s funny.)
We’re already a week past the holidays and yet Jim is still suffering the aftereffects. I have no idea how you are coping if you had family and friends over to further to further disrupt your person’s routine.
Aside from constantly repeated questions and comments, Jim seems to be checking for mail far more often than he used to before the holidays. Note – We have video doorbell that chimes whenever someone comes neat the door yet Jim begins to check the mail mid morning, then when the digital dogs bark (indicating the mail has arrived) and at least two times afterward… even though he’s already brought in the mail.
I’ve stopped reminding him that he’s already checked the mail for two reasons. 1) it gives him something to do to break up the monotony of the day and 2) I hate the effect my reminder has on him. His shoulders droop and he seems to deflate, upset that he’d forgotten and was repeating himself. Okay, let’s make that three reasons. 3) we’re still in a pandemic, he can’t go to the gym, so every time he checks the mail, he completes a set of stairs.
Let’s call that a win!
